Youth Fused Glass Garden Art

Wine Bottle Slumping – Wine and Cheese Edition

Do you have a glass bottle that you would like to preserve in a unique way? Come and learn about glass bottles, glass fusing and slumping, while enjoying an evening of wine and cheese at the museum.  Bring a clean glass bottle to be slumped into a tray or condiment dish. (Remove label prior to class.) The bottle will be fused in our kiln after class and available for pick-up up at a later date.

Art Activity Day – Summer Sun Catchers

Arts Festival – Join us in the tent on the museum lawn

What do you want to sprout from your flowerpot?
Take a walk through our Special Exhibition, Quantum, and see the 3500 glass sprouts that have sprouted in the gallery. After you have viewed the exhibit, make a summer sun catcher and show us what you want to sprout out of your pot. Various colorful glass pieces will be available for you to use, as well as a copper ring to hang your finished piece.

Projects are $15 each.

This is a drop-in activity. You do not need to register. Please pay at the event.

Metal Clay and Fused Glass Pendant

Create a beautiful pendant combining silver metal clay and glass. The basics of working with precious metal clay (PMC) will be introduced, including shaping, texturing, drying, kiln firing, and finishing. Students will shape silver clay to create a setting for a piece of fused dichroic glass. A $10 surcharge for metal clay is included in the price of this class. All experience levels welcome.

Each session ends with a camp reception to give participants an opportunity to share what they did during their time at camp with their family and friends.

Make a fused glass bug that stands on all 6 legs. You will learn to sandwich copper wire in between two pieces of sheet glass to create your 3-D glass bug. Cut glass rod and other glass decorations will be provided so you can add eyes, stripes, spots or any other bug-like designs to your creation. $15

Recycled Glass Buttons – Wine and Cheese Edition

Visit the museum and make up to five buttons out of colorful bits and pieces of glass. We will provide the glass and you will learn to cut and layer several bits of glass to create your own buttons. After your pieces are fired in our kiln, we will attach a button fastener or pin on the back in order for you to attach them to a garment or wear for decoration. The pieces will be fused in our kiln after class and available for pick-up up at a later date. Shipping is available for an additional cost. Cheese and wine will be provided. All experience levels welcome.
