Glass art projects are fun for school groups, team bonding, or a day out with friends! We’ll give you the power to create dynamic art that is completely unique. Groups of 7 or more can create their own extraordinary works of glass art. Participants must be ages 5 and up. No previous experience is required!
Participants start with a clear glass "blank" about 1.5x1.5". After a brief overview and safety talk, it is completely up to the individual on what their design will look like. Pieces are all pre-cut and ready to be glued on. Projects stay at the museum for 10-14 days to be fired in a kiln. After firing, a jewelry bail is glued on and a key ring is attached if desired. Projects take about 30 minutes. This project is intended for ages 5 and up.
Groups can choose between three different sizes – 3x3”, 4x4”, and 5x5”. After a brief overview and safety talk, it is completely up to the individual on what their design will look like. Pieces are all pre-cut and ready to be glued on. The sun catchers will be fired in the kiln with a copper hoop. Projects stay at the museum for 10-14 days to be fired in a kiln. Projects take about 45-60 minutes. 3x3: $10 / 4x4: $15 / 5x5: $20. This project is intended for ages 5 and up.
Participants learn about portraying more than meets the eye. In this class, sheet glass is used to create a self-portrait. Clear “blanks” that are 4x5” are decorated with colorful glass to represent themselves. After a brief overview and safety talk, it is up to the individual on what their self-portrait looks like. Pieces can be pre-cut and ready to be glued on, or staff can provide a brief glass cutting lesson for a more interactive experience. Projects stay at the museum for 10-14 days to be fired in a kiln. Afterward hooks can be attached for easy hanging. Projects usually take about 45 minutes to an hour. This project is intended for ages 5 and up.
Participants will learn about how to create their own mosaic using pre cut glass and E6000 glue. Afterwards, pieces will stay with the studio for 1-2 weeks for grouting. Projects usually take 45 minutes to an hour. This project is intended for ages 5 and up.
Create a mosaic tile to place in your yard or garden this summer! Participants will create a hexagon cement tile with a mosaic of their own design. Multiple different techniques for making mosaics with glass will be demonstrated and after the mosaic image is created, we will pour our own cement to create our tile. Projects usually take 1.5 to 3 hours. This project is intended for ages 16 and up.
Create your own garden on glass or frozen winter scene! Participants will create a seasonal piece of their dreams by learning to work with fused glass. We will talk about ways to create different shapes with glass! The pieces will be slumped after firing, to stand up on their own and be a great decoration all year long long. Projects stay at the museum for 10-14 days to be fired in a kiln. Projects usually take 1.5 to 3 hours. This project is intended for ages 16 and up.
